Told the kids about April Fools
so all day long it was:
“I don’t have legs. April Fools!”
“My name is Erinn. April Fools!”
“I don’t like pizza. April Fools!”
Over and over, again and again.
I guess the joke’s on me.
Go! All forms of sickness: go!
The cold, the allergies, the flu
my weird new belly button pain
(don’t ask–I’m certainly not gonna)
So we can go–anywhere–please!
As long as there are people
of this kind in the world
there is hope, now and forever

Might: as in power and strength
I feel lacking in it, daily
but I am God’s crafted vessel
through which His power can pour
to serve others as He would
grace and love through my hands
strong as God could ever forge
when I remember: I am His
My recovery from surgery continues, slowly,
finally fading to feeling almost normal
so a cold starts–throat scratchy,
nose runny–new misery replaces old
It is well with my soul
but my body is another story.
Novel for now: moving without pain
(it would be, if I could)
By next week, novelty’ll have faded
at least, that’s what I hope
one plus one times sixteen years =
two kids and one happy family.
