Forget me not

We threw a party last night for our church’s young couples and families. All the food was ready, the house was immaculate, the tree was lighted and the candles were lit. Everyone ate and talked and played together, all with great cheer. So what if I forgot the Christmas music and the fireplace? It’s not like I forgot what time the party started. It’s not like I decided at the last minute to re-energize myself with a quick workout. It’s not like I showed up all sweaty to find people at my front door a half hour before I thought the party started, looking at me like I’m a hair past crazy.

Let’s just say that me forgetting to light the fireplace was not the worst thing I forgot last night. But I did realize how thankful I am to have friends that love me in spite of my forgetfulness.
